The North Albury bowler teamed up with Duane Crow to win a see-sawing contest against Henty's Kerry Boyle and Bruce Diffey, 21-17.
Hirst and Crow opened up a 12-4 lead after eight ends, but the Henty side won seven of the next nine to level the contest at 15-all on 17 ends.
The 18th end was telling as the Hopper duo picked up a five to lead 20-15 with three ends to play.
Despite losing two of the last three ends, Hirst and Crow were able to limit the damage to win it 21-17.

Hirst said it was a battle of the leads with Crow and Diffey going shot for shot.
"We got out to a bit of a break at the start and they caught back up," Hirst said.
"Crowy kept us in the game and I didn't do a lot. He played really well and I put a few in when I had to.
"The opposition were always thereabouts.
"The green was magnificent and it was a good, tight game, played in good spirit."
Hirst said Crow moved the jack with his final bowl on the 18th end to leave Hirst five shots up when he returned to the mat, but neither skip was able to change it.
It was Hirst's third district title having claimed the triples with Crow and Norm Honey last year and the triples with Honey and Bryce Babel in 2018.
He hopes to convert it to his first zone crown.
"I've been knocked out in the second round both times in the zone triples," Hirst said.
"I'd like to go one better this year. I've got zone pennant badges, but haven't won any other zone events so I'd like to get one of those."
Hirst had initially entered the event with David Brown, but he missed the final due to work commitments.
Lavington's Max Scanlan and Vic Moore won a thrilling senior pairs final against clubmates Bill Davison and Allan Pantling, 19-18.
No more than four shots separated the sides as Scanlan and Moore snatched back the lead with two ends to play and held on by one.
Howlong's Rick Crofts and Les Pilfoot won the president's reserve pairs decider at Walla, 27-10, against North Albury's Stewart Ronan and Richard Delaney.
