SAVOUR FLAVOUR
Tastes of Rutherglen, Saturday, March 6, and Sunday, March 7
Our favourite wine festival Tastes of Rutherglen is back with wine masterclasses, special vintage tastings and dinner events. Nineteen wineries have teamed up with border and North East chefs to present hero dishes matched with fine wines. Festival admission includes tasting glass for complimentary tastings, winery entry over two days and entertainment.
Tallangatta's 125th Annual Show, Tallangatta Showgrounds, Saturday, March 6
Show jumping, team penning and hack and sporting horses will fill the arena. Three world champion wood choppers will line up at 11am. The pavilion will be overflowing with crafts, flowers, jams, pickles and fruit and vegetables. Other highlights will be Miss and Master Show Girl and Boy, best dressed pets and novelty events. Family entertainment includes free face-painting, Trixie the Clown, dog high jump and side show alley. Andy Hooke, who works with hand tools to split, shape and dress timber, will demonstrate the craft that has been passed down through generations..
MARKET MAGIC
Peninsula Seasonal Markets, Talgarno Tennis Courts, Sunday, March 7, 9am to noon
A showcase of seasonal produce and hand-crafted goodies, the markets offer 30 stalls ranging from jewellery, photography, pottery and children's books to fruit and vegetables, jams and baked goods. There will be a community barbecue and a pop-up coffee shop.
COUNTRY FAIR
Mighty Mitta Muster, 1784 Mitta North Road, Mitta, Sunday, March 7, 9am to 6pm
Enjoy a country fair this weekend. With wood chopping, foot races, horse races, whip cracking, dog jumping, stockman's challenge, tug of war, market stalls and amusement rides there is something for everyone. Buy tickets via Eventbrite or at the gate.
