The 28-year-old won Williamstown's best and fairest and was named in the VFL Team of the Year in 2019, prior to joining the Pigeons.

"He's a jet, he intercepted everything," Cresswell said after seeing him repel numerous attacking raids in Saturday's practice match, which Rovers won by 39 points.

"We nearly doubled their inside 50s, but he cut them all off.

"You can see why he's made a career in the VFL, he reads the ball well, he's very agile, I thought he was really, really good."

Cresswell's praise will do wonders for games involving the Pigeons as spectators follow him as a player to watch.
