Judge Di Mangan commented on the high standard of entries, handing out $7000 in prize-money and many highly commended awards.
Chief administrator Irena Webster said with 518 entries overall, the youth award was particularly popular.
"We had a record number of youth entries, 109, up from 60 last year," she said.
