Quite remarkably, Flynn Gardiner was one of eight first gamers in the loss to Myrtleford over Easter.
The 18-year-old last played in the Hoppers' thirds unit in 2019.
"It was definitely the physicality and the speed of it and even the strategies behind it," he revealed when asked the most difficult aspects of tackling the higher standard.
"Just like Myrtleford's set-up and trying to get through that set-up."
Gardiner impressed in a forward pocket and there's few debutants who can say they finished at full-forward.
