Now seven years later, the 22-year-old will play her 150th game with the club this weekend.
"I knew some people at school who were at Wodonga clubs, but I wanted to branch out and meet people that I hadn't met before," Furborough said.
"Lavington had a really welcoming atmosphere so I thought I'd give them a try.
"I've been here ever since."
Furborough missed parts of her first year in A-grade with a stress fracture, and after the cancellation of last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is back on court in the senior side.
She admitted she's had several mentors to look up to during her transition through the ranks.
"Sarah Meredith has always been a really good mentor," she said.
"She's always positive and pushes everyone to be their best.
"During her time at the club I always idolised Sarah Senini as a shooter."

Furborough has joined former Albury-Wodonga Bandit Maddy Plunkett and Panther Gabbie Star in the goal circle this season, with the new trio rotating.
"It's been going well so far," she said.
"Having Maddy there as a new player is a bit different but we're all getting used to playing with each other."
Lavington has so far won two of their three games this season, with a loss coming at the hands of Yarrawonga.
They're now set to take on Myrtleford at McNamara Reserve this weekend.
"Myrtleford's always a strong team to play against," she said.
"In the O and M, even if teams are lower than you on the ladder, they still challenge you.
"It's always a good game each week."
