Is it losing pages or simply in need of some tender loving care?
Repair Cafe Albury-Wodonga will try to cover you for a happy ending.
Repair Cafe Albury-Wodonga will re-open in Wodonga on Saturday for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic locked down the nation more than 12 months ago.
Its last session was during March 2020.
Repair Cafe Albury-Wodonga volunteer book repairer Lynne Keys, who has been fixing books since she was a child, said it was important to extend the life of popular or irreplaceable books.
Having worked in school libraries for more than 30 years, Ms Keys said she wanted to offer her repair skills to the community.
"It's about making old or precious books readable," she said.
"It may be something that's been in the family for a long time, a precious children's book or a popular cook book.
"If the pages are adrift or the spine is loose we can try to repair it."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Repair Cafe Albury-Wodonga spokeswoman Allison Bowman said books aside, the monthly repair cafe would focus on a range of household items.
Repair Cafe Albury-Wodonga is a community-run initiative, open on the first Saturday of the month, to help people fix bikes, battery-operated appliances, furniture, clothing, scratched DVDs-CDs and blunt garden tools.
"I had my garden shears fixed at the repair cafe," Ms Bowman said.
"It saved me $20 and meant I wasn't sending them to landfill."
The cafe is supported by Halve Waste.
People can take their broken furniture, battery-operated appliances, clothing, damaged books and blunt garden tools and be shown how to fix them by volunteers free of charge.
There is a limit of three items for each person at each session.
Repair Cafe Albury-Wodonga will run at The Senior Citizens Centre, 15 Havelock Street, Wodonga, from 10am to 1pm.
There is ample parking.
