The Pigeons had lost the five first games to rack up their longest losing streak in 16 years, but produced an exceptional performance in downing the home side 13.16 (94) to 11.8 (74).
Rovers led by nine points at half-time, but the visitors then kicked seven goals to three.
"It gives a bit of belief for the younger guys who've come in and played their role," delighted coach Mark Whiley, who was forced off in the second quarter with a corked calf, said.
Matt Casey was inaccurate, racking up eight behinds, although his four majors and three to Bailey Frauenfelder proved vital.
Harry Wheeler and Leigh Masters were also superb.
