After Saints goal-attack Danielle Walsh was sidelined with a head knock in the last quarter, Skinner's daughter Tori Wright was called upon to finish off the game against Rutherglen with her mum.
It marked the first time the duo have teamed up in A-grade together.
"She slotted in nicely and got the ball into us," Skinner said.
"It was a nice finish to the day."
There was only one goal separating the Saints and Cats at every break, with the Wodonga side posting a strong last term to see them ahead by seven.
Skinner admitted she was left biting her nails at stages during the close encounter.
"It was very stressful," she said.

"I said to the girls, please don't do that to me again."
New defenders Keely Heron and Meg Vardy were strong, likewise wing-attack Taylor Morey.
After three wins and two losses this season, Skinner said her side is starting to iron out some kinks.
"Our whole defence end is pretty much new and they're starting to work together really well now," she said.
In other Tallangatta and District League netball results, Yackandandah posted a massive 87-27 win against Beechworth, with Jessica Garland shooting 52 goals for the Roos.
Kiewa-Sandy Creek was too good for Barnawartha, while Chiltern, Mitta United and Tallangatta were also round six winners.
