The reigning premiers made a lively start with Kurt Beath and Marcus Gett on target in the first quarter from short corners.
Patrick Baine kept Wombats in the game with several great saves and James Ellis put the pressure back on Norths with a goal in the third quarter, but they did enough to secure the points.

CR United held its nerve to get past a determined Falcons side, 2-1.
Falcons scored early in the game with an opportunity converted by Charley Wallace, but United clawed its way back in the second half with goals to David Foster and Alex MacQueen.
Andrew Paterson, who was well supported by his defence, starred in goals for Falcons, while Tim Jones was a standout for United.
Magpies scored a 2-1 triumph over Wodonga.
