The move coincides with the WIN network returning to being a Channel Nine affiliate and will replace the Nine News Local service which now screens at 5.30pm.
The WIN bulletin will be a statewide edition, with the network's chief executive Andrew Lancaster announcing the demise of separate regional news services for areas across Victoria such as the Goulburn Valley.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Wollongong-based WIN stated that its return to reporting in Albury-Wodonga "will see WIN employ additional local news gathering staff" in the area, however it was unable to say exactly what that meant in job numbers.
WIN News will also return to the Wagga and Griffith areas after also having been axed to cut costs in 2019.
