The Ovens and Murray Football League was seven rounds in when Victoria's COVID lockdown last week forced it to be put on hold. There's been some spectacular football played, so The Border Mail will count down the best seven moments, prior to the resumption. Here's number six.
Yarrawonga had lost its first four games, while Myrtleford was coming off a thrilling win over the premiers, so the latter was favoured to add to the Pigeons' losing streak.
However, the desperate home team was clearly the better side and led for almost three-quarters of the match.
But the Saints grabbed the lead with just under 10 minutes left.
The Pigeons missed a couple of chances and with seconds left and a four-point lead, former AFL player Kurt Aylett had a shot from 52m and just eight metres from the boundary.
"I think I've only seen him kick 35m," co-coach Jake Sharp joked after the game.
And, what's more, Aylett was nursing a hamstring injury.
But he produced the biggest kick of his career.
"Mate, I haven't (been a noted goalkicker), I've been a bloke that's played everywhere and done all the roles, so it was nice, obviously I had a sore hamstring (tendonitis), so to come down here (in the forward line from the midfield) and have an impact was what I had to do and play my role," Aylett offered.
