Murray Magpies prove themselves in victory away to Rand-Walbundrie-Walla

It was only the Magpies' third win of the season and lifts them to within four points of the Giants in mid-table.

"I knew we had the potential to win and it was good to see the girls put the four quarters together," coach Kiera Nicholson said.

"A few of the younger girls had a chance to step up and they proved they can do it.

"Hannah Azzi, one of our young goal defenders, had a blinder. I reckon every second ball, she got a turnover.

"The return of Hayley McPhillips, who had surgery at the start of the year, in the goal shooting role, made our attacking end so much more controlled.

"We've still got a few players to come back that's only going to build the side up.

"It just shows the girls that when they put the hard work in, they get results.

"We've played a few tough teams and had a few losses in there but we've kept at it and that hard work is all worth it.

"There are two games this season we probably should have won and didn't so this just proves we can do it."

Elsewhere, games went to form as the top five all won.

Osborne extended its perfect record at the top with a 74-34 victory at home to CDHBU, while Jindera and Billabong Crows remain just one win back.

Jindera returned from Holbrook with a 68-24 win and the Crows had too much for Culcairn, cruising to a 70-15 margin at Urana.

Lockhart picked up its sixth win, 66-36 away to Brock-Burrum and Howlong saw off Henty 71-25.
