Wahgunyah coach Kodee Lowe believes shortened TDFL season is imminent

The Lions played an intraclub match against Corowa-Rutherglen on the weekend, but Lowe believes as long as crowd limits remain in place from the Victorian government, it would make it too hard to restart.

"I know the league's contingency plan is to play everyone once and then finals if everything goes wrong. So far we're up to round eight, so essentially we've got four rounds to go," Lowe said.

"We've done all we can, but we had the bye the weekend before the lockdown, so we didn't time that too well.

"We're pretty keen even though it's been hard to see everyone during this time.

"We were back at Wahgunyah on Tuesday and it was good to have most of the numbers there, but everything is a big unknown at the moment."

Lowe also fears the longer the league is shut down, the more likely clubs will lose players to neighbouring leagues who are playing.

"It's a bit worrying for me if someone says, 'I might go play at Corowa' and they they see they're going alright and might sign there and it's too late to get them back because they've got the power."

Tallangatta league officials met via Zoom on Wednesday and opted to extend the season's postponement by at least another week.

However, the Upper Murray league may resume on Saturday with Tumbarumba to take on Corryong and Federal to host Cudgewa.

The Ovens and King league season has been postponed until June 19.
