The makeover will include new fitness and children's play equipment, a memorial area and improvements to an Indgenous garden.
Councillor David Thurley welcomed the move, which was approved at Tuesday night's council meeting, on the basis the area had been "neglected" and was in "poor" condition.

Work on the ground is expected to occur over 2022-23 with $550,000 allocated in that financial year for construction, the remainder of the budget will be spent on planning.
Toilets are not included in the revamp on the basis that there was a lack of demand for them through feedback to the draft plan and cubicles are located nearby at the war memorial and botanic gardens.
Meanwhile, the council decided to await a Heritage NSW response before approving a draft Uiver collection policy for public comment.
