Until Kyle Crighton had all his charges finalised, while taking steps to tackle his illicit drug issues, he had to remain in jail.

The 18-year-old has fronted Albury Local Court on a large number of mainly dangerous driving-related charges, committed in stolen cars.

Crighton will remain behind bars until his sentencing on August 11, though magistrate Richard Funston made clear there was no guarantee he would even be released.

"At what stage do people seriously think that Mr Crighton is going to be let out today?" Mr Funston asked during the teenager's bail application.

"He's just a single-handed Albury Crime Wave. This is just an outrageous spree of dangerous driving."

Crighton has pleaded guilty to six separate sequences of charges, 18 individual counts in total, before the Local Court.

These include multiple charges of driving unlicensed, exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h, dealing with the proceeds of crime and driving a conveyance taken without the consent of owner.

Police told the court how one victim parked her 2020-model Mercedes Benz GLC 200 in Uralla Place, Albury, on May 23.

She believed she might have left the key fob inside the car.

Just after 2am the next day, Crighton and an accomplice broke into the car. Crighton drove and his mate used his mobile phone to film him.

About 2.35am, Crighton, of Lavington, was heading south on Young Street when he approached the intersection of Guinea Street.

He sped-up from 46km/h to 141km/h in the space of 12 seconds, this clearly on the phone video of the car's speedometer.

Mr Funston said Crighton might get out on an intensive corrections order, "but he's clearly facing a jail sentence with the sheer volume of this type of driving".
