Cross was outstanding in the club's 37-point win over Wangaratta Rovers on Saturday.
"It's more midfield, forward, in the past it's been mid-back, we've got a pretty strong back six, we just try to rotate our fresh guys through the midfield and me go forward at times," he explained.
Albury is the league's most miserly outfit, averaging just 53 points against.
Jessy Wilson has established himself as one of the league's best defenders, while his lookalike Lucas Conlan has also performed well in his first season out of the Riverina Football League.
However, Cross was still able to take a number of intercept marks in defence.

"It's just a natural tendency, I've probably played more back half than forward half, so I always like getting back to help the defenders out."
