The former lead guitarist and songwriter for Powderfinger said his parents introduced him to the Fab Four.
"My first taste of The Beatles Let It Be would have been on the car radio," he said
"It wasn't until I became a musician that I appreciated the simplicity of the lyrics and music.
"They may have written the songs quickly but they perfected them in their performances and they have stood the test of time."
In Music Feed's Love Letter to a Record series, Middleton said The Long and Winding Road was the first song he recalled from the album.
"I honestly feel that this song - and Let It Be - hugely shaped my love of a well-written ballad," Middleton said.
"Whenever I hear it, it takes me straight back to the backseat of our car at the time; sun streaming through the window, radio on and a young 'me' singing quietly along."
Middleton went on to form ARC, Antipodean Rock Collective, comprising Kram (Spiderbait), Mark Wilson (Jet) and Davey Lane (You Am I), all of them self-confessed Beatles tragics.
IN OTHER NEWS:
ARC will soon hit the road with Let It Be Live 50th Anniversary Tour, which is coming to Albury Entertainment Centre on Tuesday, July 27.
Following two sold-out tours of The Beatles' Abbey Road Live in 2019-2020, ARC will perform Let It Be from start to finish, followed by a second set playing a selection of favourites spanning the breadth of The Beatles' catalogue.
Predominately recorded in 1969 before Abbey Road, Let It Be was released on May 8, 1970, days before the release film of the same name and almost a month after the band split up.
Its 12 tracks include Get Back, The Long and Winding Road, Across the Universe and Let It Be, McCartney's ode to his mother, Mary.
It was The Beatles' 12th and final studio album, and the closing chapter in the greatest rock 'n' roll story of all time.
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the album, Queensland-based Middleton is coincidentally approaching his own 50th birthday in spring.
"I think I'll get together with a few friends and family; I've had 20 years of big parties already!" he said.
ARC plans to tour a Neil Young - Harvest show next year.
