Late on Friday afternoon he was informed he had tested negative, however he has been told by health authorities that regardless he will have to quarantine to July 6.
That follows Mr Clancy having been in Parliament House, which has been declared a COVID exposure site after NSW Agriculture Minister Adam Marshall was diagnosed with the virus.
"Obviously it's important, given the Delta variant, to follow the health advice and take proper precautions," Mr Clancy said.
He also warned others who have been in Sydney to take notice of COVID directives.
"We potentially have people living in our community who work or travel to Sydney regularly so they should be heeding any advice there and monitoring that," Mr Clancy said.
The Liberal MP is working from home but has cancelled social engagements and a visit from Arts Minister Don Harwin planned for next week.

Four council areas, including the City of Sydney, in the NSW capital will go into a lockdown from Saturday until next Friday.
Victoria has put Greater Sydney, the Central Coast, Shellharbour, the Blue Mountains and Wollongong in a red zone, which requires those who have been in those areas recently to quarantine at home for 14 days.
"There will also be continued mobile vehicle patrols around the NSW border to identify car registration details and vehicles who may have travelled from NSW, including those who may have been in a red zone," a statement read.
"Anyone who selfishly and deliberately chooses to put their own needs above the health and safety of the entire community, can expect to be held accountable and fined.
If anyone is concerned about breaches...we encourage them to call the Police Assistance Line on 131 444."
Meanwhile, there was a day-to-day rise on Thursday in the numbers seeking COVID tests at Albury Wodonga Health's clinic in Wodonga.
The daily tally rose to 134 compared to 92 on Wednesday and 114 on Tuesday.
However, 147 were tested on Monday.
