The region's hockey young guns will look to earn state bragging rights this weekend with six North East Knights teams to contest the Junior Country Championships.
Bendigo plays host to the girls tournament, while the boys are at Shepparton.
North East Knights have under-13s, 15s and 18s teams at both events.
The tournaments consist of six metro sides and four regional.
"It's a relief just to get the tournament going, especially since we were in lockdown only three weeks ago," North East Knights co-ordinator Debra Lawrence said.
ALSO IN SPORT:
"If the six metro teams couldn't attend, it was going to stop the whole tournament, so it was great we could get it away with those restrictions and even the fact our NSW players could travel to Bendigo and Shepparton.
"The regional sides are North West Lightning (Bendigo), Gippsland Bulls and there's another zone that covers Warrnambool across to Ballarat, so it's similar to us in they cover a lot of space to train together."
Each team plays two games per day with the top four in each age to play for a spot in Sunday's finals.
North East Knights is made up of representative players from Hockey Albury-Wodonga and Goulburn Valley Hockey Association.
