"I generally work co-operatively with Cr Thurley and it's a pity he wants to take a cheap shot," Cr Cameron said.
"I have to work for a living, unlike him who is retired.
"If you wanted a council made of retired people it would be very parochial.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"You need people who work for a living and who are in touch with the struggles of working people on council.
"It's a bit rich to have a pot shot from someone who did not attend a meeting so he could see an eclipse of the sun."
Cr Cameron was referring to Cr Thurley visiting Cairns in November 2012 for the astronomical event.
Cr Thurley said: "That was in the first of council (I served) and I had booked that long before I stood for council and missed one meeting."
Cr Cameron said his role as a travelling union representative forced him to miss some meetings but he noted Albury Council had effectively doubled its gatherings by shifting from monthly to fortnightly sessions during this term.
Cr Thurley is dismissive of that idea.
"Monday night has worked for many, many years," he siad.
"I don't think many councillors would want to meet at weekends, I think that's private family time."
