The Crows' defender has impressed this season after making his debut in round two against Sydney.

With eight games now under his belt since earning a rookie contract during the AFL's pre-season supplemental selection period, Murray said he was ecstatic to continue to call the club home for another two seasons.

"I was very grateful for the opportunity to train with the team at the start of the year and couldn't have been made to feel more welcome when I arrived," Murray said.

"I was over the moon to get a rookie contract and got to live out a dream of making my AFL debut in round two, and now to sign with the club for two more years, I'm stoked.

"I've loved my time at the club so far and I'm looking forward to experiencing some success together in the future."

Murray has played on some of the league's best forwards this season, and while he's predominantly utilised as a defender, he booted his first AFL goal against Greater Western Sydney during round seven.

Adelaide general manager of list management and strategy Justin Reid said Murray deserved the opportunity to extend his time with the club.

"He worked incredibly hard in preparing himself just for the chance to train with us over summer, and when he arrived it became clear very quickly that he had what it takes to play at the level," Reid said.

"Nick has earned the respect of his teammates and coaches with his work ethic and appetite to compete, and as a strong bodied defender who is very good in the air, we see him as an important part of our backline for years to come."

Murray played eight games with GWS' reserves side in 2019 and had planned to play for Williamstown in the VFL last year before the season was derailed by the COVID pandemic.

Instead he reconnected with his junior club Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong in the AFL Riverina Championships, breaking his collarbone in the Lion's semi-final win against Mangoplah-Cookardinia United-Eastlakes.

Murray is a former Murray Bushrangers co-captain.

Adelaide has so far won five games this season.

Meanwhile, former Albury player Charlie Spargo racked up 50 games with Melbourne during the Demons 31-point win against Port Adelaide on Thursday night.

Spargo has had a breakout year with the club, after debuting in the side back in 2018.

Melbourne currently sits at the top of the ladder following 13 wins this season.
