A junior player with the Hawks, Andrew moved away to try his luck with Albury in the Ovens and Murray before a spell in the Hume league with Culcairn.
But the 26-year-old has now come full circle and is thriving in familiar surroundings.
Andrew's been one of the Hawks' best in the majority of their games this season and he says wearing the brown and gold just feels right.
"It's good to get back to my home club and play with my brother, Jack," he said.
"I played all my juniors at Kiewa so I was always going to go back there.
"The young guys that were playing seniors when I was playing juniors are back out there as well so you look up to those guys who you're now playing with.
"Tim Kindellan is a big driver of the team, he's definitely one I look up to.
"My brother is another and then Scott and Jason Bartel, guys like that have a lot of footy knowledge and they teach you a lot. It's just a really good feeling to be out there.
"You see everyone you know every week and they all get around you."
Since losing two of their first three games, the Hawks have won eight in a row to sit just four points behind leaders Yackandandah.
"We are building momentum," Andrew said. "It's all happening at the right time.
"The key has been playing more games together.
"There's a few new faces in the crew and in the first few games, we weren't moulded but we're playing some good footy now.
"It's a tough competition, which is always good. You don't want to be belting teams all the time and you don't want to be belted all the time.
"It's anyone's season. The top five or six teams can all beat each other."

Kiewa-Sandy Creek is scheduled to play away to Tallangatta on Saturday.
"They're always a hard team to play against," Andrew said.
"They've got some big bodies and are a very skilful side as well so it just depends who brings their A-game on the day."
