Henty Machinery Field Days 2021 to be discussed at August 10 board meeting

It is the field days next scheduled board meeting and ultimately directors will decide if the event falls victim to coronavirus for the second successive year.

"We need a few things to go our way, but we will wait and see," field days chief executive Belinda Anderson said.

"Our dream result is everything opens up again, but that is not reality.

"(August 10) is six weeks out and is an optimum time to work out what we are doing."

Victoria has imposed even tougher border restrictions with NSW this week and Queensland shut its border to all of NSW from 1am Friday.

The bulk of exhibitors came to Henty from NSW followed by Victoria, but it also attracts them from Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.

Presently around 600 exhibitors have booked to come to Henty with more than half of those from NSW.

"Then the bulk of our crowd comes from within a three-hour drive," Mrs Anderson said.

One scenario under consideration is limiting attendees to NSW residents only.

There is no obvious replacement date in the event of a postponement given Mudgee field days have grabbed an early November timeslot after postponing its traditional July dates.

AgQuip field days at Gunnedah have also rescheduled to November.

"We all know what November is like around here with harvest full on and no one wants to go to an event in summer," Mrs Anderson said.

Greater Hume mayor Heather Wilton hoped the field days can go ahead.

"It will be very disappointing for the board and extremely disappointing for the exhibitors and all the people who make the field days tick like the entire community, school groups, motels, hotels," she said.
