Chiltern's Katie Lappin admits it's hard to stay motivated in a Covid season

Clubs are now facing their second consecutive weekend off the court due to Victoria's extended lockdown.

Lappin, who has played 200 senior games for the Swans, believes it's even harder for younger players still developing their netball skills.

"Even in the lower grades, you want them to be able to keep playing and building up their strength to be able to jump into the seniors sides in the next couple of years," Lappin said.

"It's really hard to stay motivated, just wondering if you're going to be back playing and if the season is going to finish."

Chiltern have so far won six games this season and are just sitting in the competition's top five.

Lappin said the Swans have had a surge of young players into their senior squad.

Former Wodonga Raiders Zoe Rae and Georgia Thomas make up the side's shooting combination, while Ella Eagle has joined the midcourt.

"It's a really new side, so I'm happy with how it's going this year," she said.

"A lot of the girls in the team haven't played together at all, but they're starting to work really well together."

Lappin has been lining-up in the A-grade defence while also aiding coach Lee Brookes this season.

While she has played most of her netball at Chiltern, she's also had a stint with Wodonga in the Ovens and Murray league.

Kiewa-Sandy Creek are the current ladder leaders.
