Rodney Clarke and his son, Travis, appeared separately in the Wangaratta Magistrates Court this week.
They appeared in court on a video link due to coronavirus restrictions, flanked by their lawyers.
Both accused men were airlifted to hospital after the incident.
The court heard the pair had been unable to contact each other as part of their bail conditions.

Those bail conditions were changed in court.
While the pair are now able to associate with each other, they are banned from doing so at Yarrawonga and at the site of the altercation.
The court heard the alleged victim still lived at the campground.
Three witnesses will be cross-examined as part of a contested committal when the matter returns.
The committal for both men is set to run on November 17.
