Police in Southern NSW have issued 27 infringement notices in 24 hours over COVID-19 and will crack down on compliance.
Deputy Commissioner Mick Willing said regional NSW had to keep up compliance.
"Unfortunately, we've seen in the last few days five local government areas in the Hunter region and of course the Armidale area in lockdown," he said.
"What you're going to see in the next couple weeks are very police district in regional NSW with high visibility operations being conducted, out there supporting our communities.
"I remind people to pick up the phone, and contact Crime Stoppers and your local police if you see something amiss.
"We know regional people know who should be in their towns."
Across the state, nearly 500 fines were given in 24 hours.
