The league released a short statement on Tuesday night confirming the news.
"The TDFL executive committee held a meeting tonight and it was voted on to cancel the remainder of the 2021 home and away season," it read.
"Discussions were held regarding the finals series, contingency plans have been drawn up and will be presented to club presidents with feedback sought this week.
"This decision was based on a survey conducted by the league, with information gathered from league clubs.
"The majority of clubs preference was not to participate this weekend."

The return of community sport in Victoria, following the end of lockdown in regional areas, has come with the caveat that spectators are not allowed.
One leading club has urged the league to play finals, with or without crowds, citing the wellbeing of players as a key reason to finish the season.
There has been no senior football played in the TDFL since July 10.
The Tallangatta & District Netball Association has said it will take the same approach as the football competition regarding the conclusion of the 2021 season.
