The league announced on Tuesday that it wouldn't play the final round on Saturday and instead had opted to have the weekend off before the commencement of finals next weekend.
Several clubs who weren't in finals contention were against resuming for one week after having not played since July 10 due to the Victorian lockdown.
However, Beggs said Mitta United were definitely prepared to field a senior and reserves side on Saturday.
"I read with interest comments in The Border Mail from Barnawartha's president that 'Mitta have closed up shop, apparently, for the year,'" which is totally wrong," Beggs said.
"I know some clubs didn't want to play on Saturday but Mitta certainly wasn't one of them.
"To be honest I was a bit frustrated and disappointed to read the comments and not be contacted for comment about them.
"Not only were they false but they were also offensive and by no means what we stand for a club and as a community.
"But just to clarify the situation we were more than happy to continue the season and voted to play on the weekend.
"We would have fielded two senior sides without a problem."

Mitta United finished the season with a 4-7 record under rookie coach Jackson Heagney-Steart.
The Blues were unable to field thirds or fourths this season.
In a positive sign, Beggs is confident the club will have both under-12's and fourths next season.
