"Housing the (Wodonga Histroical Society) at (Bonegilla Migrant Experience) for a proposed period of three years does not negate the need to explore long-term housing of the society and permanent historical exhibitions in the central business area of Wodonga," the council report compiled by cultural projects co-ordinator Karen Walls-Smythe said.
"Council officers, in conjunction with the WHS, will continue to investigate venue opportunities to support a long-term return to (central Wodonga).
"In the interim, the community gallery at Hyphen will feature both historical and community exhibitions, with one of the opening exhibitions dedicated to a WHS and Hyphen collaboration."
It is hoped the move to Bonegilla will assist the society address its medium term survival and provide somewhere to store its collection and being open on the same days as the migrant experience, subject to volunteer availability.

Previous options canvassed included the Goods Shed before its redevelopment as a hospitality venue and temporary exhibition spaces being provided in Hyphen.
The present memorandum of understanding between council and the historical society is due to expire in October.
