Sergeant Tim Mooney said police attended the school at about 5pm on Sunday, after they were notified by an alarm system.
"They were caught by police in the act," he said.
"He states that there was an unlocked door and we're not able to verify that, there was no damage done to the building breaking in.
"He's obviously moved about freely and just selected a few items that were readily available."
The man allegedly stole office supplies like permanent markers, masking tape, blue tack and walkie talkies.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Sergeant Mooney said it was probably an opportunistic theft.
"He was arrested and conveyed to Wodonga where he was interviewed and charged," he said.
"Any theft from a school, it effects the local community and the school and the teachers.
"Sometimes the items that are taken are bought out of teachers own funds.
"So we're obviously very disappointed when people break into schools and steal items that hard work's gone into, to provide that to students."
