38 new cases were recorded in Western NSW, nine in the Far West, 15 in the Hunter, 17 in the Illawarra and 15 on the Central Coast.
PREVIOUSLY
NSW recorded 1533 locally acquired cases of COVID-19 and four deaths in the 24 hours to 8pm Friday.
An additional case was recorded in hotel quarantine.
A man in his 60s from western Sydney died at home.
A woman in her 80s from south west Sydney died at Fairfield Hospital.
A man in his 50s from western Sydney died at Westmead Hospital.
A man in his 70s from south west Sydney died at Liverpool Hospital.
49,779 vaccines were administered in the 24 hours to 8pm Friday, and 131,174 tests received. Victoria recorded 190 cases and no deaths in the 24 hours to midnight Friday.
Health Minister Brad Hazzard said 1041 cases were in hospital, 173 in ICU and 62 on ventilators.
Murrumbidgee Local Health District is investigating a suspected COVID positive case in Wagga.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Yesterday NSW recorded 12 deaths and 1431 cases of COVID.
In her Friday media briefing NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said cases are anticipated to peak in the next fortnight.
But, she said, residents should focus on the number of vaccinations and hospitalisations.
Ms Berejiklian said hospitalisations would likely peak in October.
She said residents had 'nothing to fear' about getting the virus.
