Wodonga Raiders' Skye Burgess fearful of impacts of cancelled seasons

With community sport still not on the cards in either state, the league made the decision to scrap the remainder of the finals series.

No premierships will be awarded, however Raiders will be remembered as the minor premiers for the open women's competition for 2021.

They were set to meet Lavington in the decider.

"It feels like the rug has been pulled out from underneath us," Burgess said.

"Especially after last year, it's been two years now of work with no reward.

"Most of the team have never won a flag and a few were supposed to have their last seasons last year and came back.

"Everyone was hanging out for the chance at a premiership."

Burgess now fears for what impacts the last two years could have on the competition.

"We've already lost two teams because of Covid, and now having two years with no result, I really worry about the future of the league," she said.

"It's hard enough to get girls into footy, now two years with no reward, we're losing momentum."

Lavington Panthers finished on top of the ladder in both the under-17s and under-14s and are the minor premiers.

The FFL will still award best and fairest winners and runners-up, as well as recognising the leading goal scorers for each grade at a date to be determined.
