Wodonga's Jane Cook takes out Victorian Netball League's Hot Shot Award

Cook was also named in the Team of the Year after posting 589 goals from 614 attempts to average 96 per cent accuracy for City West Falcons.

The talented 24-year-old also claimed Geelong Football Netball League's A-grade Hot Shot Award after a strong season with St Albans.

With the Australian Netball Championships cancelled for a second straight year, Cook said she was able to have one of her most consistent seasons with the Falcons.

"Going into this season, my goal was to put out really good performances," she said.

"Shooting goals is my job, but I definitely couldn't do it without the rest of the team.

"Full credit to the rest of the Falcons' championship side, we have amazing defenders who turn the ball over game after game.

"I'm pretty proud of what I put out on the netball court this season."

Cook began her career at the Falcons alongside fellow Wodonga export Jacqui Newton, with the pair often travelling down the highway together.

It's now been six seasons since Cook helped Wodonga Bulldogs to their 2015 premiership, but the excitement from that day is still with her.

"Even though I've won a premiership with Falcons since then and loved every moment of that, the Bulldogs' premiership is still my favourite game," she said.

"If someone was to ask me what the highlight of my netball career is, it would have to be that.

"That's home for me and that's where my love of netball started."

Cook hasn't ruled out a return to the Bulldogs one day.

"I'm sitting on 97 games for the club, so I would love to come back and get another three in and tick my 100 games off for the club," she said.

"Hopefully one day."

Outside of netball, Cook completed her university studies last year and is now working as a full-time podiatrist.

She signed with the Adelaide Thunderbirds back in 2016 and has previously been a training partner with Collingwood.

"Moving forward I'm just hoping to keep building, and whether it happens or not, find my way back into that elite environment in Suncorp," she said.
