The Albury Wodonga Football Association outfit has worked tirelessly in recent years to upgrade its facilities and has commenced the process to build new club rooms.
President David Pye was devastated upon learning of the news the existing building had been impacted.
"We've got grants to benefit the club and new lights, the list goes on and on," Mr Pye said.
"We've got good people we've had volunteering over the years and it's not just me, it's a good committee that really works hard.
"I'm just disappointed and that's basically all I can say."
Glenn Wilson is among the members on the committee and described it as a "real setback for the club" which has been hampered by two successive COVID-affected AWFA seasons.
"It's very upsetting with all the work the volunteers put in to keep this club running so we can get kids playing sport," Mr Wilson said.
"It's distressing, but we will rebuild. We've got plans to build some new clubrooms, but we don't need this."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Fire and Rescue NSW zone commander Stewart Alexander said crews were called out about 10.15pm Monday.
"It was well alight, the building, when firefighters arrived shortly afterwards," he said.
"It looks as though it's the change rooms that were damaged by the fire."
"They had it under control pretty quickly, but unfortunately there's been some quite severe damage to that building."
Mr Alexander said police would investigate the cause of the fire.
Three fire trucks from Albury Central and North Albury brigades attended the blaze, remaining on site until about 12.30am.
Mr Alexander said crews also attended a house fire at Maragle, 16 kilometres north west of Tumbarumba on Saturday about 9.15pm.
"It was well alight when firefighters arrived, unfortunately it sustained severe damage," he said.
