There were 1993 cases recorded in the past 24 hours after back-to-back days of cases over 2000 as the state closes in on its first significant vaccination target of 70 per cent of the eligible population being double dosed.
However, seven more deaths from coronavirus were reported.
In NSW, cases continue to drop with 319 daily cases.
There were 79,214 tests conducted in Victoria in the last 24 hours compared to 66,311 in NSW.
Meanwhile, a Lavington childcare closed its doors on Friday when a person who attended the centre on Tuesday tested positive for COVID.
Contact tracing is underway.
