
An Albury man has been charged and bailed after allegedly crashing into a tree on the Hume Highway while being followed by police.
The 30-year-old lost control on the highway at Gundagai about 4pm on Friday.
Police had received reports his Ford Falcon was speeding near Tarcutta, and police saw the vehicle travelling at up to 188km/h near Tumblong.
They lost sight of the vehicle.
The Ford crashed into a tree and the man was taken to Wagga hospital.

He was arrested and charged with driving offences on Sunday before being granted bail to Wagga Local Court on December 1.
A strike force has been launched by police to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
"The investigation will be subject to an independent review," a police spokesman said.
