Murrumbidgee Local Health District acting director of public health Alison Nikitas has issued a thunderstorm asthma alert for the region.
Current high pollen counts and the predicted thunderstorms can increase the risk of asthma.
Residents who know they have asthma should carry their asthma puffer with them at all times and try to stay indoors with the windows and doors closed during the storm period.
Residents should also be aware that thunderstorm asthma can also affect people who have not had asthma before.
Anyone with breathing difficulties should call 000 or go to their nearest hospital emergency department.
The alert comes just one week after the MLHD issued a warning for residents to be prepared for thunderstorm season.
Charles Sturt University has established an SMS notification and email notification system where you can register to be notified on days during spring that are high risk for thunderstorm triggered asthma.
