Blitz golf is in its formative years and is the sport's quicker version of tournament play, with the field of 32 professionals tackling six holes before the field is halved.
Players then face three holes and are then relegated to a final four playing a single hole.
"There's the excitement of multiple cuts, so it's really cut-throat," tournament coordinator Heath McLeod revealed.

"It's all about scoring, it's not about trying to grind out a 72-hole win."
The Blitz event represents a return to some 'normality' for golfers as both Victoria and NSW haven't hosted pro-ams since March, partly due to COVID.
Ten players had pre-qualified for the Australian Open, which has since been cancelled for a second successive year due to the uncertainty over international travel plans.
"It's a very strong field, the local player Zach Murray has won a couple of times on our (Australasian) tour, Bryden Macpherson has won twice this year, (former European Tour player) Marcus (Fraser) is playing, Matt Millar is a former European Tour player, a multiple winner on our tour, (Australasian Order of Merit) player of the year," McLeod explained.
"The Order of Merit doesn't start until the Vic PGA in December, so this is what we're seeing now, some really good players coming out to blow away the cobwebs for a week or two before we kick off at Moonah Links."
Macpherson will be hoping to pick up where he left off towards the end of last summer after claiming the Moonah Links PGA Classic with a superb 18-under par for the 72-hole event and then followed it by winning the $400,000 NSW Open at Concord.
"That was the biggest event on our tour," McLeod offered after COVID had written off the Australian Open.
Blitz golf is entertainment-based, so there will be activities for children with the players to host free clinics from 1pm.
The action starts an hour later and the format allows for spectators to speak to players, at the appropriate times.
The event is worth $15,000 with the winner in both the pro and amateur section winning through to the Blitz final at Glenelg in January.
