
Darcy Brown was defeated in his first time in the ring, but it won't be the last occasion he pulls on the gloves.
The Lavington mental health, disability and Aboriginal health advocate made his debut on Saturday at Masters Boxing Victoria's competition at Ferntree Gully.
Mr Brown said he was proud of his effort against Sugar Ray Thompson and, despite the result, "the winner was everyone".

"Time to reflect, get back to the gym and get ready for the next one, whenever it may be, but there will be another," he said.
"I was a little bit emotional after the fight because I really wanted to win, but you can never win anything."
