A BURRUMBUTTOCK farmer has stormed on to Greater Hume Council, getting 28 per cent of votes in his election debut.
Ashley Lindner is in line to finish second in the west ward contest behind Jindera incumbent Jenny O'Neill.
Another councillor Matt Hicks is running third, with six candidates vying for a place in the three-member ward.
Mr Lindner, a father of four, is delighted to be first Burrumbuttock councillor since Darryl Jacob in 2012, saying it was important places other than Jindera had ward representation.

In the other contested ward, north, councillor Doug Meyer will be returned after topping the voting with 34 per cent of vote.
It appears fellow incumbent Annette Schilg will claim the second seat in the three-member ward, but it is a close contest for the last place.
With 66 per cent of the vote counted, Culcairn quarry Ian Forrest was ahead of former councillor Karen Schoff 344 to 308.
