The North East Knights won a thriller against Metropolitan Inner East Emus in the under 16 Youth Premier League on Monday.
The Knights were coming off successive wins in the first two rounds and elected to bat at Wodonga's Les Cheesley Oval, posting a competitive 7-205 from the 50 overs.
No. 4 Lucas Hales top-scored with 59 runs from 77 deliveries, striking five boundaries, and combining in a 65-run stand for the fourth wicket with Phoenix Gothard (29 from 56).
Classy Wodonga Raiders' first grader Kane Scott showed his class with 42 from 48 balls, including three fours, while club-mate Finn Gray (13) and Lachie Phillips (13no) also chipped in late with handy knocks.
The Knights appeared to have the upper hand when the visitors fell to 4-77, with Lavington off-spinner Jordan Rhodes snaring two wickets from his first nine overs.
Lavington team-mate Eddy Schultheis and Josh Murphy also snared a wicket apiece, but a 77-run stand between Obie Chambers and Billy Box swung the momentum back to the visitors.
However, Schultheis regained the initiative when he combined with Gothard to claim his second scalp.
Chambers finished with 44 from 53 balls, posting two fours and a six.
