Cruz Hewitt is the number two seed in the under-14 boys draw for the Wimbledon Championships Australian Qualifier to be held in conjunction with the Margaret Court Cup at the Albury grasscourts from Friday.
The top 32 boys and top 32 girls entered into the Margaret Court Cup will be accepted into the qualifying event, with the winners to contest the major tournament.
Assistant tournament director Dom Mahaffey said it was the strongest under-14s field he'd seen in some time.
"I'm not sure whether Lleyton will be here or it will be (his wife) Bec with Cruz. If Lleyton comes, he will be a big drawcard," he said.
ALSO IN SPORT:
"It's a standalone event but for the singles only, so players can still enter the doubles in the Margaret Court Cup.
"We ended up with 93 boys and we had 25 eligible girls and it's certainly a strong field."
Entries are more than double compared to last year, despite the fact COVID-19 has denied overseas players a chance to contest the tournament once again, while just one Western Australian junior has entered.
The event usually attracts around 400 participants, but was restricted to less than 200 last year.
