"I wanted to share with you all that I have tested positive to COVID-19," Dr McGirr stated on social media.
"I am fully vaccinated, and received a positive test result [on Tuesday].
"The source of my infection is not clear. I had been intending to take some leave this week, but am now isolating at home."

A statement from Dr McGirr's office said he had notified close contacts and was following all directions of NSW Health.
"Dr McGirr's symptoms have so far been mild," the statement said.
The independent Wagga MP was one of more than 35,000 people who tested positive across NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm on Tuesday.
Dr McGirr was ordered into isolation in June last year after COVID-19 was found at NSW Parliament House but did not pick up the infection at that time.
