Police arrested the 28-year-old man in a park soon after the March 27 incident, which involved a hatchback and a SUV.
"Just after 9.15pm on Wednesday, emergency services were called to Tarakan Avenue, North Albury, following reports of a two-vehicle crash," police said in a statement.
Murray River Police District officers spoke to a 60-year-old woman on arrival.
"Police were told she was driving when the hatchback and a SUV were involved in a collision; however, the driver of SUV allegedly left the scene before police arrived," police said.
The woman underwent a roadside breath test, which was negative, and was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries.
"Following inquiries, police arrested a 28-year-old man at a nearby park a short time later," police said.
"He was subject to a roadside breath test, which returned with a positive result.
"He was taken to Albury police station where he was charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO, drive with low range PCA, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, proceed through red traffic light, and not give particulars to other driver."
The man was refused bail to appear at Albury Local Court on Thursday, March 28.
EARLIER: A person had to be taken to hospital after a two-car crash in Lavington on Wednesday night, March 28.
NSW Ambulance said the incident occurred just after 9pm at the intersection of Wagga and Kaylock roads.
"We had a crew respond to a car that ran a red light and smashed into another car," a NSW Ambulance spokesperson said.
Paramedics treated one patient and transported them to Albury hospital, but no other details were available.
Police and fire crews attended the incident, which left debris on the road and affected traffic.
NSW Police have been contacted for more details.
The incident occurred ahead of the Easter long weekend, with police urging drivers to take care on the roads during the holiday period.
