Now he’s is the driving force behind the Australian National Theatre – Live project, which works with Act2 Distribution to film live performances of Australian plays for audiences in regional and rural centres.
He will attend opening night when the project hits Cloud 9 Cinema, Bright on Monday, September 4, with Emerald City.
“Being able to bring the experience of watching live theatre to screen audiences wherever they are, is an exciting opportunity,” Dodwell says. “Good theatre will no longer be just for metropolitan audiences.”
Other screenings include matinees Wharf Revue (September 10), Liberty Equality Fraternity (Sep 17) and Rumpelstiltskin (Sep 24).
