Brett Matthew Downey appeared before magistrate Rodney Brender via a video link to Junee jail.
"This is a matter where he's got a 10-year sentence, with a minimum of six years, for more serious matters," Mr Brender said.
In response to a query from Mr Brender, Director of Public Prosecutions representative Lucy Patterson said any sentence handed down to Downey would have to be served concurrently with the longer jail term and not be added to his current earliest release date.
Downey previously pleaded guilty to a single charge of assault with an act of indecency.
In sentencing Downey, Mr Brender provided a brief, general outline of the circumstances of the offending.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Mr Brender said the act of indecency involved Downey committing an act on the outside of the victim's clothing.
He said such an offence carried a maximum sentence, in the District Court, of 10 years' jail or two years in the Local Court.
The court was told that Downey pleaded guilty, on the day the matter was due to go to hearing, which meant Downey was entitled to a sentencing discount of 10 per cent.
The offence took place on September 20, 2018, and Downey went in to custody, bail refused, on October 4.
"You are serving an aggregate prison term of 10 years and three months for offences of a similar nature but more serious," Mr Brender told Downey.
Mr Brender ordered that the 12-month fixed term be backdated to when he went to jail.
"Thank you, your honour," Downey said in reply from the Junee jail video suite.
