It was an extremely close race in the men's vote count with import Jones snagging the award by one vote to star guard Deba George.
Sharp shooting point-guard Ken-Jah Bosley was just two votes behind Jones to round out the strong display shown this season by the men's big three.
Jones was also impressive across the competition as a whole, coming in as the seventh leading point-scorer and second best rebounder in the league's statistics.
Despite injury setbacks causing Hurst to miss several games towards the end of the season, her strong start to the NBL1 competition was enough to edge out centre Jessie Edwards by two votes in her first season as a Bandit.
Bandits' president Steve Wright said it was good to see so many players from both side's recognised for their efforts with votes this season.
"The thing that really stood out was just how even our team's were," Wright said.
"Neither team relied on only one player to do all of the work, so we were pretty lucky that the load was spread among a number of players.
"It's good to have lots of even talent across both teams."
Emma Mahady and Molly Rice also took out awards for the night for their consistency and leadership out on the court this season, with Rice unlikely to return for the Bandits' women's list next season.
"Molly's decided not to go around again next year, so it's probably a good way to finish off her career," Wright said.
"Emma (Mahady) has been here for a few years now and had another great season."
Youngster Bailey Lloyd was also impressive for the men's side this season, with the 19-year-old showing he has what it takes to step up on the court when needed.

Both of the Albury-Wodonga Bandits' side's missed out on finals in their first season in the NBL1 competition this year.
The women's season all but came down to the last round of the regular season with a loss to Knox Raiders and two wins by Waverley signalling the end of Border side's run.
The men's fate was decided slightly earlier with a few consecutive losses during the back end of the season proving costly.
At this stage it's unknown whether coaches Lauren Jackson and Brad Chalmers will reclaim their roles with the Bandits' next season.
Jackson is just at the start of her new role with Basketball Australia as the head of women's basketball.
