Australia's most irreverent and tongue-in-cheek art prize, the Bald Archy, is returning to Corowa, just four months after founder Peter Batey died in a car crash outside Cootamundra.

Federation Council mayor Pat Bourke said the town had hosted the touring exhibition annually since 2014.
He said council was honoured to be able to celebrate Batey's life by again hosting the event at Corowa Art Space.

"The Bald Archy Tour is an extremely popular and well-attended exhibition and it holds incredible tourism appeal, with this year's exhibition expected to attract more than 1500 visitors to Corowa from across NSW and Victoria," he said.
The Bald Archies in 1994 in Batey's hometown of Coolac as "tongue-in-cheek" response to Australia's most respected portrait prize, the Archibald.
The prize and exhibition is now in its 25th year.
The Bald Archies will be on show at Corowa Art Space from October 11 to November 3. Entry is $5.
