Bright Avenue Motor Inn operator Ryan Peace appeared with his wife and children on breakfast television show Sunrise to speak about the response to the event.
"We obviously had a tough January and had to evacuate," he said.
"But we filled up in within two days for the Wednesday night she is going to be here and we've also been busy for Brighter Days.
"We're super excited."
Porepunkah CFA captain Mick Dalbosco also linked in to the program and said he was ecstatic when the free concert for fire-affected communities was announced.
"It's fantastic for Bright just to get an influx of people; a lot of the businesses have missed out on their main profitable time during the Christmas period," he said.
"It's combined with the Brighter Days festival that's running at the moment.
"To have Katy Perry top that off at the end is really wonderful."
Mr Dalbosco appeared on the Sunday program with Mount Buffalo in the background and said the fire in that area had caused concern.
"The threat remained ... through to a good part of January," he said.
"We were very lucky.
"A huge amount of work was done by volunteers and all the firefighting crews."
Ahead of her T20 Cricket performance, Perry told reporters Wednesday's concert was about giving firefighters "the love the deserve".
